"One of the most compelling pieces I can recall coming from the pen of this young composer. Each vignette, based on a single statistical finding, is ushered in by unusual vocalise-type sounds -- sussuration, rolled Rs, humming or tongue clicking. The last , in conjunction with toe-tapping, African-influenced rhythms, cleverly enhances the celebratory nature of the finding: 'One will be supported by her husband all her adult life.' "
